Just Peel It
We know mangos can be scary. You get one home, and then now what? You’ve watched the step by step instructions. Cut each side. Dice the cheeks. Scoop out the cubes. But it all just seems so complicated. I can just EAT an apple, but mangos are a whole other story.
But look, we have good news: you don’t have to follow the “how to cut” instructions if you don’t want to. You can actually peel a mango kind of like a banana. Say what?? It’s true! And it’s usually the preferred method of those who grew up eating mangos.
If you’re cool with getting a little messy, all you have to do is give the stem a little pinch to help the process and then peel the skin off from there. Then you just eat it. You will have mango juice everywhere, not limited to your hands, face, arms and the floor, so you might want to be outside or over a sink.
That’s it. You might need perfectly diced mango for a recipe, and our “how to cut” guide might come in handy. But if you just want to eat some mango, give peeling it a try.
