Producer Extension Workshops

What are Producer Extension Workshops?

The National Mango Board is working with the mango organizations in the top six producing countries to share our knowledge and resources directly with the mango industry. This project is designed to:

  • Provide information to mango growers, harvesters, packers and shippers on harvesting and handling practices and how these can affect the quality and acceptability of mangos in the marketplace
  • Demonstrate quality control practices that improve product quality and safety and reduce post harvest losses
  • Inform the industry of NMB publications and resources such as the Best Handling Practices Manual
  • A basket of mangos is considered a gesture of friendship in India

Extension Workshop Videos

Research has revealed that a major factor for consumers when deciding whether or not to purchase a mango is quality and fruit ripeness. The NMB works with top researchers to generate and expand knowledge that will minimize postharvest losses through the mango supply chain.

The NMB shares this knowledge with mango industry members at extension workshops. Below you will find videos of researchers who have presented their research findings and recommendations on improving mango quality.
