Crop Forecast Updates

Don't forget to check out the Mango Crop Forecast, which is updated whenever we receive new information from any of the top producing countries for U.S. mango imports. Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Nicaragua are included in the current forecast. Mexico has said they will begin providing forecasts in March. Our Retail Account Managers promote the crop forecast to their retail contacts during every meeting, and the feedback on this service has been very positive.

Consumer PR & Marketing

We've published our final results of the 2007 consumer PR program and the news is good! The NMB was responsible for consumers seeing mango messages over 270 million times in 2007. If we had purchased this exposure in the form of advertising, it would have cost nearly $3 million! Check out the latest version of the consumer PR results tracker for more details.

Our sponsorship of the GRAMMY Celebration was a huge success. The mango ice bar Mango Ice Barserved up our signature mango drink,The Sweet Escape, to the 6000 guests of the invitation-only party. We landed an appearance on the television show Extra for our celebrity Mixologist, Tony Abou-Ganim on the Friday before the event. And, we got some nice coverage in the print media, including People Magazine. The real focus of this whole exciting event was a 30-second secured news package that is currently being played on television stations across the country. Look for the final results and links to the videos in the March issue of the Mango Connection.

Retail Marketing

We're constantly looking forward and looking back - making plans and evaluating our results - at the same time. Your retail promotions & marketing program is no different this February. We've recently posted the final summary report on our 2007 retail promotions activity. Meanwhile, your team of Retail Account Managers is hard at work educating retailers about mangos and setting up promotions for 2008.

One of their key messages to retail right now is our upcoming Cinco de Mango promotion. This event is our own special mango twist on Cinco de Mayo. It's a great time to promote mangos and we're making it easy for retailers to get involved by providing POS, recipes and photography. They also have the option to work with their Retail Account Manager to focus their promotional allocation on this time period with Cinco de Mango demo events. Click here to see the Cinco de Mango promotion flyer.

Another new retail tool is the Mango Demo Instruction flyer. We've tried to include everything a demonstrator will need to know on one sheet for easy reference. Many of these demonstrators are not familiar with mangos, so we have to teach them first, so they can share their knowledge with the shoppers in the store. Click here to see the Mango Demo Instructions and feel free to provide this document to the demo coordinator when you set up your own demo events.

Next board Meeting

The NMB's next board meeting will take place on March 4th, 5th and 6th in Houston, Texas.
