Everyday, all across the United States, the National Mango Board marketing programs are spreading the mango message through newspapers, magazines, on TV, on the web, in grocery stores and in restaurants. Our research programs are supporting these efforts at all stages at the mango supply chain. The Mango Connection newsletter and the industry section of www.mango.org are the best way for you to learn how your assessments are being invested for the future of the mango industry.

Your National Mango Board tracks the results of every marketing program in which we invest. It helps us know what programs are working really well and what needs tweaking. And, it helps you know how your funds are being invested and what sort of return on investment the industry is receiving. This information is powerful, and we want to share it with you.
We know that the more people we can reach - whether they are consumers, retailers, trade media or foodservice professionals - the more impact we can make to increase mango awareness and consumption. The four trackers that cover our marketing programs can be found here. Each one includes a summary and some definitions right up front, but please contact us if you have any questions.
The National Mango Board and Chef Allen Susser, "The Mango Man" hosted a daylong hands-on workshop at Chef Allen's in Miami, Florida. Four top-level chefs from Sodexo, an on-site foodservice provider in business and industry, healthcare and education, and The Cheesecake Factory, a national chain restaurant with over 120 locations, participated in the event. The event provided an opportunity for these chefs to think about fresh mangos in new ways for their restaurant menus.
The chefs spent a day in the kitchen with Chef Allen, where he shared his passion for mangos. Chef Allen demonstrated 17 recipes that showcased mango's versatility. Green (unripe) mango proved an ingredient discovery for the chefs. Chef Allen also presented new ways to maximize the flavor, texture and color of ripe mango. The group explored a wide range of applications, including Green Mango Slaw, Chutneys, Mango Cuban BBQ Sauce and a hot dish with grilled mango.
The chefs lunched at a nearby Cheesecake Factory where they toured the kitchen to gain a better understanding of where mangos might play a more prominent role in the future. Chef Allen was asked to make suggestions for optimizing the mango flavor and appeal in each of the dishes where fresh mangos are already being used. Sodexo has already committed to a spring/summer 2009 promotion with the National Mango Board, so the timing of the Chef Allen seminar was perfect for their menu development process. All of the chefs agreed that the time spent with Chef Allen was educational, inspiring and very worthwhile.
