Effect of fruit characteristics and postharvest treatments on the textural quality of fresh-cut mangos
Conducted by: University of California – Davis
Principal Investigator: Dr. Diane M. Barret
Timeline: 1/1/2010 – 6/30/2012
Objectives:
- Determine the influence of cultivar, harvest maturity and ripeness stage at the time of cutting on sensory perception and instrumental measures of mango texture
- Investigate textural changes in fresh-cut mangos during refrigerated storage after cutting, using sensory and instrumental methods
- Investigate the effects of gaseous 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP; SmartFreshTM)and/or calcium dips and/or modified atmosphere packaging on textural changes in fresh-cut mangos using sensory and instrumental methods
