NMB Connects with Mango Industry Members at Produce Trade Shows

The National Mango Board (NMB) represents the mango industry at regional retail trade shows and expos throughout the year. These regional shows are an outstanding opportunity to interact and build relationships with retailers at all levels. This year, we have a booth at the Southeast Produce Council Expo, the New England Produce Council Expo and the New York Produce Show. At the Southern California Fresh Produce and Floral Council Expo, we sponsor the breakfast the morning of the show, a major sponsorship. With our attendance and participation at these trade shows we are able to meet with individuals at various levels of retail produce operations, from Vice Presidents of Produce to Category Managers to store-level Produce Department Managers.

Being able to connect with produce professionals at all levels of the retail space, we have a great opportunity to talk about sales trends, consumer research, POS materials, the Crop Forecast and other topics that are interesting to buyers and others at their corporate offices. With the store-level associates, we focus on key points that can help them sell more mangos. We talk about how to select, ripen and cut a mango, so they are better prepared to educate their shoppers. We also focus on temperatures and other handling practices, so they can help us improve quality for consumers.

In addition to the aforementioned trades show, we will also be attending the new Midwest Produce Show in August where a NMB representative will walk the show and determine how the NMB should participate in 2013.
