Paola Rivera Zapata
Exporter, AEXPORT SAC, Piura-Piura, Peru
Paola is manger and owner of a Peruvian exporter company of fresh mango since 2009, during their five years in the market, they are still learning every day based on their own experiences and friends from the mango industry. Her primary focus within the mango industry is to offer exquisite Peruvian mango to delight the consumers around the world, and find those niche markets that have not yet been seduced by this delicious fruit.
In addition, since 2013 she is the manager of Cruzco Organics SAC, owned by an American investor with extensive experience in the business, who created a project to develop a processing plant to dehydrate mangos in Peru. This next season the plant will start operations and will begin exporting the product: dehydrated mango for consumers around the world, which leads her into a personal and professional challenge, which she hopes to achieve a considerable volume with this product.
Paola is also part of the Chamber of Commerce of Piura and APEM (Association of Producers and Exporters of Mango) in Peru. When asked about what ideas does she have to share about the future of the mango industry? Paola said: “What I like about the mango industry is learning about the behavior of the fruit during each season, and how each has its particularities and differences from the previous ones. Every year we can learn not only from our national mango, but from the behavior of the other mango producing countries and the benefits that we can use to transform and consume it in different ways.”
