Meet an Industry Member
Mango industry, meet Altamir Martins from Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. Altamir has been in the mango industry since 1998 and is the director of Finobrasa. Finobrasa is in charge for all mango crop production operations and commerce. For more insight and overview of the produce industry, Altamir has always visited countries like Peru, Mexico, Ecuador and South Africa and yearly take part in great expos such as Fruit Logistica and PMA.
Altamir also belongs to several organizations such as VALEXPORT, IBRAF and COEX. Altamir graduated from the Federal University of Ceara State in Brazil in 1980 with an agronomy degree. For 33 years, he’s been working in agriculture mainly with tropical fruits, as well as working for big economic groups. Altamir first started working with coconuts for 16 years and during that time he built a project with more than 4.000 hectares. He then began a small mango project after intensive development and is now responsible for one of the biggest in Brazil with more than 850 hectares.
When asked what he loves about the mango industry he replied, “I am really thrilled and happy to help the process of providing delicious, high quality mangos to several markets around the world.”
