Mango Hometown Tour

Mangos are the world’s most popular fruit and have become the darling of chefs across the U.S. We challenged 12 top chefs, two in each of the Mango Hometown Tour cities, to create a mango dish that represents their regional cuisine.

The Mango Hometown Tour champions in each city contributed great energy to their winning mango recipe:

  • St. Louis, MO – May 6-7, 2011

    • Champion: Chef Josh Galliano
    • Recipe: Shrimp chorizo with mango romescu, mango tuille and whipped mango vinegar
  • Charlotte, NC – May 13-14, 2011

    • Champion: Chef Tom Condron
    • Recipe: Pork belly slider with mango slaw, served with a mango beer shot
  • Portland, OR – June 17-18, 2011

    • Champion: Bo Kwon
    • Recipe: Korean fish tacos with mango pico de gallo and mango salsa
  • Tampa, FL – July 8-9, 2011

    • Champion: Chef Chris Ponte
    • Recipe: Mango Trio
  • Cleveland, OH – July 29-30, 2011

    • Champion: Chef Jonathan Bennett
    • Recipe: Mango, cilantro and crab fritter, with mango ketchup, served over green mango slaw
  • Hartford, CT – August 26-27, 2011

    • Champion (Tie): Chef Chris Torla and Chef Billy Grant
    • Recipe (Torla): “Mango Three Ways” - bacon slider with mango slaw, mango lassi and a mango fondue tartlette
    • Recipe (Grant): Mango and plum wine braised BBQ short ribs with mango cilantro salsa
